Gov. Pay Your 3 months’ House Rent

People who have been in need due to the COVID-19 can receive some financial support from Japanese government. This is called 住居確保給付金（じゅうきょかくほきゅうふきん, the Housing Security Benefit）. If you meet all the requirements, government will provide you with 3 months’ housing allowance (up to a certain amount of money which varies from each municipality). The extension is possible up to twice, so you can receive this allowance for 9 months at the longest.

Who meets the conditions?

1. If a primary income provider
   (1) has left his/her job or has gone out of business within 2 years
   or
   (2)chances to get his/her salary have decreased to the same extent as they would be when he/she have no job or is out of business because of neither individual responsibility nor personal circumstances.
   Job seeking requirement
   (1)→He/She must go to ハローワーク to apply for employment and try to have one with eager.
   (He/She need join the consultation twice a month, apply for a company and have an interview once a week)
   (2)→He/She must seek a job with eager.
   (He/She need try to improve his/her family budgeting or have some vocational trainings)
2. The total household income*1 of the latest month does not exceed the 1/12 amount of “350,000yen×number of people per household＋210,000 yen*2”[A]
   *1 income = earnings – employment income exemption
   *2 Add 210,000 yen only when there are two or more people in a household.
3. A family’s total property (amount of deposit) currently does not exceed [A]×6, which need to be under 1000,000 yen.

Who can extend to 12 months?

It is possible to extend three times if he/she has already applied for this housing allowance during the period of April 2020 to March 2021.

How much allowance we can receive?

The amount differs community to community. For example, residents in Tokyo 23 wards can receive the following amount of allowance at most.
Numbers of people per household:
1 →→ 53,700 yen/month at most
2 →→ 64,000 yen/month at most
3 →→ 69,800 yen/month at most
